Al Jaddaf Marine Station is the boarding point for all Dubai Water Canal dinner cruises — and it is one of the most underrated evening destinations in Dubai. This guide covers everything: where Al Jaddaf is, how to get there, what you'll see on the cruise, which package to choose, and what to expect from arrival to return.
Where is Al Jaddaf Marine Station?
Al Jaddaf Marine Station is located on the Dubai Water Canal in the Al Jaddaf neighbourhood of Dubai — just behind the Palazzo Versace Hotel , along the Jaddaf Waterfront promenade. It is approximately 3km from Downtown Dubai and 7km from Dubai Marina.
Despite being close to the city centre, many first-time visitors to Dubai have never heard of Al Jaddaf — it is a quieter, residential waterfront neighbourhood that doesn't appear in most tourist itineraries. But at night, when the dhows are lit up and the canal is reflecting the Burj Khalifa, it is one of the most beautiful spots in the city.
"Al Jaddaf at night — with the dhows glowing on the canal and the Burj Khalifa visible in the distance — is one of the most beautiful scenes in Dubai that most tourists never see."
How to Get to Al Jaddaf Marine Station
By Metro (Green Line)
The easiest way. Take the Dubai Metro Green Line to Al Jadaf Station — it is a direct 10–12 minute walk south along Marasi Drive toward the waterfront from the metro exit. In summer (May–October), the walk can be very hot — take a taxi from the metro station instead (approximately AED 10).
By Car or Taxi
Tell your driver "Al Jaddaf Marine Station, behind Palazzo Versace Hotel, Al Jaddaf waterfront" . Free parking is available at Jameel Arts Centre — a 5-minute walk from the boarding pier. Additional street parking is available along Marasi Drive.
By Taxi App (Careem/Uber)
Search "Al Jaddaf Marine Station" in Careem or Uber — the pin is usually correct. If your driver can't find it, share this address: Marasi Drive, Al Jaddaf Waterfront, near Palazzo Versace Hotel, Dubai.
Tip: Arrive 30 minutes before your cruise departure time. This gives you time to walk the waterfront promenade, take photos of the dhows before boarding, and get settled.
What You'll See on the Al Jaddaf Canal Cruise
The 2-hour cruise departs from Al Jaddaf and sails west along the Dubai Water Canal. Key sights include:
Ras Al Khor Flamingo Sanctuary — visible at the start of the evening cruise, especially at the 6 PM sunset departure. Real pink flamingos in their natural habitat, just minutes from Downtown Dubai. Business Bay Skyline — the illuminated towers of Dubai's business district reflected on the calm canal waters. Burj Khalifa — the world's tallest building, seen up close from the water. The captain slows the boat here for photography. Waterfall Bridge — the iconic illuminated waterfall under the canal bridge. Dubai Festival City IMAGINE Show — if you take the 8:30 PM cruise, you pass Festival City during the world-record fire, laser and water show.
Which Package Should You Choose?
There are three packages for the Al Jaddaf Water Canal cruise — all depart from the same location and sail the same route. The only difference is the boat:
Basic (AED 45) — Traditional wooden dhow. Open upper deck for fresh air and photos, air-conditioned lower deck. Up to 180 guests. Best for families, large groups, and those who want the most authentic Arabic boat experience at the lowest price.
Economy (AED 45) — Modern white fiber cruise boat with comfortable normal padded seating. The most popular choice — a contemporary, clean-looking vessel at excellent value. Best for couples, small groups, and anyone preferring a modern aesthetic.
Premium (AED 45) — 5-star luxury yacht with plush sofa seating and a boutique-hotel interior. Henna artist on board. Max 100 guests — the most intimate and exclusive option. Best for romantic evenings, proposals, honeymoons, and special occasions.
Sunset vs Night Departure — Which is Better?
The 6:00 PM sunset cruise is beautiful for the golden-hour light on the canal, seeing the flamingos at Ras Al Khor in natural light, and watching Dubai transition from dusk to full night illumination. Great for families and photographers.
The 8:30 PM night cruise gives you the full city lights experience and is timed to pass Dubai Festival City during the IMAGINE show — the world's largest fire, laser and water display. Better for couples and those who want the most dramatic skyline views.
